In the heart of Rajasthan’s Tonk district, a quiet revolution unfolded one that redefined how students learn and how technology can empower even the most underserved classrooms.

When IAS officer Dr. Saumya Jha took charge, she saw beyond the statistics. The district’s students dreamed big  to become scientists, engineers, and innovators  yet many were falling behind due to one subject: Mathematics.

Vacant teacher posts, limited resources, and foundational learning gaps had left students struggling to grasp basic concepts. But instead of accepting the status quo, Dr. Jha envisioned a future where AI could become the teacher every child deserves.

The Birth of “PadhaiWithAI” Where Every Child Learns at Their Own Pace

Under the Lakshya 2025 initiative, Dr. Jha and her team launched PadhaiWithAI.in, a bilingual, AI-powered learning platform designed to make math learning personalized, accessible, and interactive.

Unlike traditional online tools, PadhaiWithAI acted like a real-time tutor. It explained solutions in both Hindi and English, generated fresh practice questions, and helped teachers track every student’s progress. The AI didn’t just teach  it listened, adapted, and guided each child’s learning journey.

Teachers, too, found a new purpose. Instead of spending hours preparing worksheets, they could now focus on mentoring, motivating, and encouraging their students.

Six Weeks. One Vision. Life-Changing Results.

In just six weeks, Tonk’s government schools saw something extraordinary, a transformation.

  • The Class 10 math pass rate soared to 96.4%,
  • High scorers increased by 5%, and
  • Students who once feared math began enjoying it.

These results weren’t just numbers; they were stories of confidence, courage, and change.

While Rajasthan’s overall results improved only slightly, Tonk’s success became a national model  showing that with vision, innovation, and compassion, education can truly be reimagined.

A Blueprint for India’s Learning Revolution

PadhaiWithAI’s success goes beyond Tonk. It offers a replicable model for districts across India  combining AI, local language support, teacher empowerment, and inclusive learning ecosystems.

Looking ahead, the programme aims to expand to other subjects like English and Science, and introduce AI-powered remedial learning that targets individual student needs.

This initiative echoes India’s national missions  Viksit Bharat 2047 and NIPUN Bharat where digital innovation meets educational equality.
