From a casual dinner chat to a disruptive business model, Let’s Scrap is redefining how India views waste management. Founded by three friends Anuj Bhatnagar, Udaibhan Singh, and Amit Gautam, the startup has helped over 200 companies and thousands of households recycle 20,000+ metric tonnes of waste across 12 cities, while turning corporate scrap into profit.
In 2022, Anuj was tasked with disposing of outdated DTH boxes and Wi-Fi routers. He expected a competitive, transparent market for scrap disposal. Instead, he encountered:
“The whole process felt broken; there was no clarity or accountability. It was frustrating and inefficient,” Anuj recalls.
His frustration led to late-night research, interviews with local kabadiwallas, and a realization: India’s waste disposal system was ripe for disruption.
One evening over dinner, Amit suggested starting a tech-driven platform to fix the chaos. That spark became Let’s Scrap a digital-first solution designed to make corporate and household waste disposal transparent, compliant, and profitable.
The startup launched in 2023 with a bold mission:
Unlike household recycling players, Let’s Scrap zeroed in on corporates where compliance, audits, and financial accountability matter most.
One of Let’s Scrap’s biggest success stories is with Aditya Birla Fashion Retail.
Earlier, the company sold about 24 tons of scrap annually to local vendors. With Let’s Scrap’s digital system, they collected 33 tons in just two months uncovering pilferage and inefficiencies they never noticed before.
The result?
“For some clients, scrap revenue now offsets 20–25% of their rental costs,” says Anuj.
Corporates receive EPR certificates for compliance
The model is win-win:
Today, Let’s Scrap operates in 12 cities, including Delhi, Gurugram, Jaipur, Chennai, and Chandigarh. They:
“Our aim isn’t just to build a business, it’s to build a cleaner planet,” says Anuj.
Environmental activist Vikrant Tongad applauds the model:
“Waste segregation is India’s biggest challenge. Even a simple pen contains multiple materials. Without scientific disposal, most end up burned or dumped. Startups like Let’s Scrap fill this critical gap with authorised, sustainable solutions.”
Profit Margins: 20–25%
Despite being young, the company has built a profitable, scalable model that appeals to both corporates and households.
For Anuj, the journey is about more than revenue.
“The real win is when clients tell us we’ve saved them money and made them more sustainable. That feedback reminds us why we started Let’s Scrap to make waste management simple, transparent, and impactful.”
From a dinner table discussion to a multi-crore startup, Let’s Scrap proves that when innovation meets sustainability, even trash can turn into treasure.
